Welcome to the Quilcene Community Center website where we share events, programs, community happenings, and all the general fun and supportive activities available through our center. We would love to have you join us through any avenue we have that appeals to you. We have many roles for volunteers. Who knows, maybe your new energies and ideas will be just the thing to ignite our little community. Join us!

Quilcene Community Center Overview

Our resources include:

Computer lab with Internet access
Room rental space (Meeting room space is provided for programs and activities of an informational, educational, cultural or civic nature primarily, and for other organizations as space and time is available. Use of meeting rooms for fund raising or profit making activities are subject to prior approval of the Center Manager.)
Food Bank on Wednesdays.

All community meetings are open to the public at no charge.

Specific program activities are published in a monthly community newsletter.

Thanksgiving

Hi people!
A super big THANK YOU! to all who helped and supported the Quilcene Food Bank this Thanksgiving! Because of you we were able to help feed over 300 people this Turkey Day. It was a busy day but everybody had a smile and all the volunteers had a blast!

THANKS SO MUCH!! now we take a deep breath before Christmas comes! Happy Holidays everybody.

Hi Everyone!

Just a quick reminder to us all, that the holidays are now upon us and for most that means a time filled with warm homebaked meals and family.
So I just want to remind you to PLEASE remember those less fortunate. Don't forget about your local food banks or organizations who help supply parents with gifts for their children. I know it's been a hard year on all of us, and let's face it, we just don't have that much to give, but you would be surprised at how far a little can go.
So stay warm and keep smiling, and remember just how lucky you are.

Quilcene Fair

On a dark and stormy night.... okay so maybe it was day time, but the winds were strong and the sky was cloudy for part of the Quilcene Fair this year of 2011. The Parade kicked off at 11 a.m. with crowds seeming not quit their usual size but the parade itself had more floats and participants then I ever remember before, huddled in our coats the people of Quilcene cheered as the parade passed by and smiled at the happy faces of children who were handed candy.

The Fair, from what I have heard, had a better turn out this year then it has in a long time. With vendors selling everything from hand dipped ice cream bars to bug holders. (for those little someones that everybody knows at least one of) And to top it all off... the carnival. Having a larger selection of rides and a new location this year really helped draw in the crowds I think, along with the rides were also a few games, such as Dart Balloons, Basketball, and lets not even get started on the Coin Game.

Along with everything else we also had The Car Show, The Antler Show, and lots of people eating ice cream.... which I would elaborate more one except I didn't go to either of these shows and my imagination just isn't good enough to make up something! but I did eat ice cream and it was very good!

Hope you all enjoyed the Quilcene Fair as much as I did this year, and for those of you who weren't able to make it, well, there is always next year!

ok so next time i will try to get some pics up for you of the Quilcene Food Bank.
so whats new... lets see, Easter is coming up soon so we are going to be getting some eggs once we fix the cooler, it has been having problems with either freezing or being to warm so we can't use it right now.

Hi all,
this is Stephanie Weir (Quilcene Food Bank volunteer) here to tell you about the Quilcene Food Bank and it's volunteers! =)
I will try and post something new at least once a month hopefully with a picture to go with it.
So first thing is first, don't be afraid to come in! we don't bit (really). Infact, by coming in you are actually helping the community, because the more poeple we have the more food we get! isn't that kool?
In case you didn't know we are open every Wednesday from 11am till 2pm at the Quilcene Community Center so drop by if you need it, we are always more then happy to help. =)

Quilcene alumni reunion a big hit

Quilcene alumni reunion a big hit
Quilcene Alumni President Hector Munn, Class of 1948, welcomed more than 100 Quilcene High School graduates and visitors for an evening of recollection, dinner and entertainment on June 23.

Alumni from Hawaii, Alaska, Missouri, Idaho, Oregon, Montana and Washington gathered to give special honor to the classes of 1937, 47, 57, 67, 77, 82, 87, 97 and 2007.

Ninety-nine year old Doris Lambert Thacker, Class of 1925, was a special guest from Nine Mile Falls, Wash. "I can't wait to come back next year when I will be 100," she said.

The oldest Quilcene-born graduates still living here are Lura Mae Shafer (Class of 1938) and Don Ward (1940).

Quilcene Emergency Preparedness

The first Emergency Preparedness Meeting was held Thursday May 18th. Nancy McDaniel from Jefferson County's Emergency Management Department was our Guest Speaker.

The next meeting of the Quilcene Emergency Preparedness Committee will be June 14.

Food Bank

Quilcene Community Center has a Food Bank that is open every Wednesday from 10 am - 1 pm. Volunteers are always needed. Donations are accepted of non-perishable foods and personal hygiene items.
